We are a thriving, ambitious and forward thinking 11-18 academy situated on the edge of the beautiful English Lake District. Our modern £26m building provides outstanding facilities, incorporating cutting edge technology which creates a bright and motivational learning environment.
The academy was last inspected by Ofsted in March 2017 and was judged ‘Outstanding’ in all areas of the inspection. Previously it was judged ‘Good’ in February 2013.
The academy’s Sponsors - Sellafield Limited, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and the University of Central Lancashire – have each played an important role in its success and are committed to its continued improvement.
The academy has been heavily oversubscribed for the past 4 years. In September 2017 our number on roll is 1203, in years 7 – 13.
We are part of the Western Lakes Teaching Schools Alliance and are building strong links with other schools in the area and we have recently been awarded National Teaching School status.
