Birkdale High School is a popular and successful all-boys 11-16 comprehensive Academy with an excellent reputation, outstanding pastoral care and significantly above national average academic results. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher of Geography or English with outstanding potential to join a successful department with committed teachers working as a close built team. The appointed candidate is required to join the team from 3 September 2018.
The ability or willingness to teach a second subject would be desirable and the school will provide support for the successful candidate in order to do so.
Appointments are subject to the successful candidate obtaining a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure (via the Disclosure Barring Service).

Birkdale High School is a non-denominational boys' secondary school in Southport, Merseyside. At its most recent inspection, there were 780 students aged 11-16 on the school roll.
The town of Southport is located on the coast of North West England and is one of the most popular seaside resorts in the UK. Birkdale High School is located alongside the grounds of Hillside Golf Club. The school has held academy status since 2012.

The garden and wildlife club creates an environment where students can develop their social skills, practical skills and science skills.

“Most recent academy progress data indicate that there will be further significant improvement at GCSE five A* to C including English and mathematics this year. Boys are making at least good progress and this was confirmed during the inspection through the observations of lessons and scrutiny of current work. Some boys, particularly the more able, are making outstanding progress.”
