Job overview

Full Time and/or Part-time

Due to an increase in student numbers we’re looking to recruit talented, enthusiastic individuals to contribute to our ongoing success.

At Queen Mary’s College we understand the importance of recruiting skilled and well-qualified staff to maintain excellence in all that we do.  We are committed to high-quality, innovative education and student support services and pride ourselves on our welcoming, supportive and friendly environment.  We never stand still and our best keeps getting better thanks to the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of our team.

Situated in 23 acres of leafy grounds, Queen Mary’s College is an inclusive, vibrant and high achieving sixth form college with a fantastic reputation both locally and nationally.  Value added data places us in the top 10% of all A- level providers.

Staffed by a very friendly and enthusiastic group of teachers who work closely together under the guidance of the Director of Learning, the Social Sciences department offers a broad range of courses to accommodate our student’s interests.  At present we have 2 geography teachers who also teach across a range of courses offered by the department. Approximately 110 students are studying geography, across both year groups. Numbers are expected to rise in the forthcoming academic year. We’re currently looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join our dedicated team.

The intention is to create a timetable around your teaching skills and expertise as we offer a range of social science courses.  We’re looking for someone with exciting ideas to build on current good practice and results. As well as teaching a regular timetable, you’ll also play a vital role as a Personal Tutor that motivates, monitors, supports and guides students’ academic progress through the College.

The ideal person will embody the principles of success and progression for all students, through teaching excellence in their subject and ability to pass on their passion. As well as a good relevant degree and a currently recognised teaching qualification, recent teaching experience would be useful. However, applications from newly qualified teachers are welcomed too. A confident classroom practitioner, you’re not only able to inspire students, you have the ability to work with others as part of a close-knit team.

Our priorities are to maintain and extend our examination success and to maintain high levels of student satisfaction and achievement.  We seek to ensure that we provide students with a high-quality experience of learning that is innovative, interesting and challenging and helps them acquire the skills and knowledge essential for their progression.  This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher to join our outstanding team and be part of our friendly and supportive environment.

The job description and application form can be downloaded from our website or contact jobs@qmc.ac.uk Alternatively, you can call Sally-Anne Spooner, HR Director on 01256 417524.

Closing date: Thursday 3 February 2022.
