The School seeks to employ a highly professional Teacher of Geography with a minimum of three years teaching experience to join a strong Geography department that has rapidly established a reputation for high academic standards and a varied enrichment programme. The School's location allows the department to explore exciting and engaging fieldwork investigation activities from the Prep School through to IGCSE and A-level.
At Harrow Hong Kong, we seek to employ highly professional teachers with the ability and commitment to enhance the life of an ‘all through School’ which has a strong boarding ethos in the Upper School, and to work effectively and collaboratively in a team dedicated to further establishing and developing the School’s curriculum. The most important part of this role will be the academic classroom teaching of Geography in the Senior School (Y9-Y13) up to and including A-level, and the Prep School (Y6-Y8).
The emphasis on pastoral care and boarding in the Upper School, however, means that all members of staff are also expected to contribute to the pastoral care of a group of students as a Tutor in a House; if this is a boarding House, this includes boarding duties in it. Similarly, the emphasis on activities outside the classroom means that an effective and varied contribution to the extra-curricular programme will also be required. As a result, teachers in the Upper School are currently expected to reside in accommodation provided by the School on-site or close to it for the better performance of their duties.
All Upper School teachers are offered two-year renewable contracts and a highly competitive compensation package, including accommodation benefits and full medical insurance for employees and their dependents.
Suitable candidates will have:
- The ability to inspire others and lead by example, role modelling the School’s vision statement 'Leadership for a better world' in relationships with students, teachers and parents.
- Appropriate academic degree and teaching qualification.
- The ability and commitment to be excellent classroom teachers, usually with a minimum teaching experience of three years.
- A strong commitment to high academic standards.
- A genuine commitment to the wellbeing and pastoral care of children.
- Interests and abilities that can enhance the School’s extra-curricular programme.
- Excellent inter-personal skills with students, teachers and parents.
- Excellent administrative, organisational, and ICT skills.
