Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed, inspiring and well qualified teacher of Geography across the 11-19 age range. At Key Stage 3 we teach Geography in partnership with RE. GCSE Geography forms one of the EBacc options at Key Stage 4 and along with A Level at Key Stage 5 attracts significant numbers.

The Brookvale Groby Learning Campus is a highly successful collaboration of two schools sharing the same site.  Brookvale High School is an ‘outstanding’ 11-14 high school and Groby Community College is a 14-19 upper school graded as ‘good with outstanding features’ in its last Ofsted. Together, the campus meets the educational needs of 1600 students with nearly 400 at Post 16.

The Brookvale Groby Learning Campus is undergoing an exciting period of change and together we are forming a Multi Academy Trust during this Autumn Term.  This means that all new members of staff will be appointed to the MAT rather than an individual school.

The schools have a strong ethos of valuing everyone and achieving excellence for all including the professional development of our staff.

The Humanities subjects are valued and successful on campus, with Geography, RE, History and Citizenship taught to all at Key Stage 3.  Geography, History and Health and Social Care are popular options at Key Stage 4 and 5.  The faculty also offers Psychology, Sociology and Extended Project at Key Stage 5.

Both newly qualified and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply.
Job Descriptions and further information are available on both websites – www.brookvalehighschool.co.uk or www.grobycoll.com.

For further information or to arrange an informal discussion/tour of the campus please contact Elaine Freeman on 0116 2876914 or efreeman@brookvalegroby.com

Closing date: 9am, Monday 24th October 2016.
Interviews will be held within 1 week of the closing date.

If you haven’t been contacted within this time, then please take it that on this occasion you have not been successful.  Should this be the case, then we’d like to thank you for the time spent applying.

The Brookvale Groby Learning Campus is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Applicants must be willing to undergo appropriate child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

We are a Leicestershire 11-14 High School on the same campus as our partner upper school, Groby Community College. The two schools work very closely together to ensure continuity for all our students 11-19, and together we share our specialist language college status.

Our campus is green, spacious and very attractive, situated on the outskirts of Groby village.
We welcome young people from our partner primary schools in Groby, Ratby, Kirby Muxloe and Newtown Linford, and from other primary schools subject to availability of places.

We are a caring school with a disciplined, family atmosphere. We are small enough for all students to be known and treated as individuals. We have high standards, and we place particular emphasis on school uniform, good behaviour, attendance and punctuality.

We are extremely proud of our excellent results which are consistently well above both county and national averages both at the end of key stage 3 when our students move on to Groby Community College, and at the end of key stage 4 when our students achieve their GCSEs at the college.

Gifted and talented students thrive at Brookvale and Groby Community College, with a good proportion of students gaining the highest levels in the national curriculum test results and GCSEs, and high rates staying on in the sixth form and going to university.

We believe that school is more than lessons, and we have a wide range of extra-curricular activties on offer. We encourage all students to get involved, make new friends and have fun.
