Since the amalgamation from two predecessor schools we have worked hard at establishing a new school community which we can all be proud of. Our students are proud to learn here and clearly want to be successful – all they need is you!

We are seeking to appoint:

  • The successful candidate will possess the expertise to inspire and engage students, and will be determined to get the best from our cohort of students, ensuring they make their very best progress. This will be achieved through planning and delivering engaging lessons, which will inspire our leaners to succeed at both KS3 and KS4.
  • The successful candidate will be committed to team work at all levels, and will be able to contribute creatively and knowledgeably to develop/evaluate schemes for learning

This opportunity is open to all candidates with experience of teaching Geography. For the right candidate there is the potential to lead a small team within the Humanities department and receive a Teaching and Learning Responsibility Allowance (TLR).

This is a fantastic time to join us on our journey to becoming outstanding and be part of a positive culture and ethos that will ensure excellent outcomes for all students.

You will be joining an excellent, highly skilled team from across the Academy.

We are a newly named academy, tucked in the shadow of the Eston Hills in Middlesbrough. We are proud of our industrial heritage, and of the work of generations of local families, mining the hills and crafting steel to build Britain. Whilst times have changed, we are committed to ensuring our future generations of students acquire the skills, confidence and qualifications to ensure they can go out into the world and make a huge difference.

Outwood Academy Normanby opened on 1 September 2019, sponsored by Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT). The original Outwood Grange Academy in Wakefield founded the Trust to lead the improvement of other schools in the North East of England. The Trust currently sponsors a number of secondary and primaries in the region. Outwood Grange Academy has been a National Training school for over ten years, was accredited as one of the country’s first Teaching Schools. The established Outwood Institute of Education continues this work.

The predecessor Hillsview Academy was judged by Ofsted in July 2017 to require special measures, and later chose Outwood Grange Academies Trust as sponsor to lead the school from a category to outstanding in as short a time as possible. We are determined that the academy will rapidly transform and we have a proven record of supporting schools in this way.

Our Academy vision is ‘Students First.’ We put our students at the heart of everything we do, and drive change in our schools quickly by focusing on ‘Raising Standards, Transforming Lives’. We simply believe that “the whole point of schools is that children come first and everything we do must reflect this single goal.”

We are determined to provide the highest of standards of education for students. Our innovative vertical curriculum personalises the learning of all students. Fast-track opportunities and workshops provide accelerated routes for some students while others have the time to succeed with longer period of GCSE study. Vocational, practical, creative and academic qualities are valued equally in the academy where we really do embrace the ‘Transferable Skills’ agenda.
