Teacher of Geography

Full Time, permanent MPS

As geographers we are aware that the world is always changing.  We know that geography gives you the chance to learn about changes that have happened and look to the future to consider changes that may happen.  At EWS from year 7 we are looking for students to consider all aspects of the world around them and to develop their awareness of the impact they have in this.  We are looking for this to remain as we challenge them through their GCSEs and A levels.

Come and join our small team who work hard and work together using a wide range of materials at KS3 and the new specification.  We are looking for your love of geography teamed with the passion and enthusiasm to share this so we can continue to develop the range of experiences that we can offer our students at EWS both in the classroom and beyond.

We welcome applications from NQTs or those with more experience. Visits to the school are encouraged. To arrange a visit please contact Emma Beckley, APL, Geography at EWS on 01604 862125.

For an application pack, please visit our website at www.ewsacademy.org.uk/recruitment, or e-mail Michelle Saint, HR Administrator at: michelle.saint@ewsacademy.org.uk

The governors of Elizabeth Woodville School and the Trustees of Tove Learning Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Successful candidates must be willing to undergo Enhanced DBS and other checks appropriate to the post.  Tove Learning Trust is an equal opportunities employer.

About The Elizabeth Woodville School - North Campus (Roade)

Elizabeth Woodville School is an inclusive comprehensive school with approximately 1100 students. Elizabeth Woodville is part of Tove Learning Trust which is a rapidly growing trust whose vision is to ensure that all pupils in the trust academies are provided with outstanding educational experiences that lead to outstanding outcomes. This includes all aspects of school life with pupils achieving to the very best of their ability.

Our school is located on two sites, Roade (North campus) and Deanshanger (South campus). We operate as one school with staff working across both sites, however the successful candidate will be based at one site only. There are however many benefits to us being on two sites, including access to excellent sporting facilities, a broad and balanced curriculum with a range of options to choose in key stage 4 and good quality staff. The most important benefit for our students is that each site has an excellent pastoral system which means that all students are known, and no one becomes just a number.

Our ambition is to create an exciting and vibrant learning community where students enjoy success in and outside of the classroom.

Our school values of: ambition, confidence, curiosity, leadership and respect are important as they are qualities which will enable our students to succeed whatever their future ambitions.

We believe that all staff and pupils should be treated with respect and have built a culture based on respect for each other, resilience to meet new challenges and take responsibility for our actions and our learning. Our recent Ofsted report confirms that we are going in the right direction and that we have a clear understanding of what we need to improve and how to improve.

Elizabeth Woodville joined the Tove Learning Trust in November 2016. We are a close knit family of schools that have a shared vision and purpose: to deliver outstanding educational experiences that lead to inspiring outcomes. Each academy has a strong individual identity and tailors their educational provision to serve their local community. Academies within the Trust collaborate to share expertise and maximise opportunities and experiences for our staff and students.

We offer:

There are many attractive benefits to working at EWS including:

  • Free on-site parking
  • Rural location
  • On site Nursery
  • Swimming pool/gym membership
  • Friendly and caring team environment
  • CPD opportunities provided
  • Confident, respectful students
  • Part of a small supportive local MAT, which incorporates a teaching school
  • Access to Teachers' pension schemes
  • Comprehensive training and support
  • Eye care voucher scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
