Teacher of Geography

Main Pay Scale ~ NQTs and RQTs welcome to apply

Starting 1 September 2017 (or sooner if possible)

Blackburn Central High School with Crosshill is an ambitious, improving and richly multi-cultural 11-16 school with approximately 860 students which achieved ‘GOOD’ from Ofsted in 2012 and is now working hard to consolidate that whilst ‘Striving for Outstanding’. It opened in 2012 in a state-of-the art new building, which provides a bright, motivational and inspirational learning environment. The school is ideally located in the heart of its community where its outstanding facilities are allowing it to have an increasingly positive influence.

Expectations are high and staff work exceptionally well to ensure that the students achieve their best; this summer 54% of students achieved 5 A*- C including English and Maths. Standards have consistently improved in recent years and remain focused on continuing this improving trend.

We now wish to appoint a Teacher of Geography with the ability and potential to play a leading role in helping us to continue to raise standards as we ‘strive for Outstanding’.

Those with passion, enthusiasm and the determination to make a difference to student outcomes should apply.

We are a popular, thriving school based in the heart of our community.

There are no secrets to an excellent education: it entails good teaching and learning, strong support and hard work. We pride ourselves on knowing and caring for all our students whilst having high expectations and ambitions for them all.

We want the best for all our students, we want them to stretch themselves and reach further than they ever thought possible. Our students aspire and achieve in both their academic and personal development.

We are very proud of our students; they are smart, successful, polite, well behaved and keen to learn. Positive relationships between staff and students are key to our success as we know young people are inspired to learn from the people they trust and respect.

Headteacher

Shanaz Hussain

Ofsted

"Pupils are proud to attend this school. They have warm and trusting relationships with staff. Pupils told inspectors that they appreciate the family atmosphere of the school, where everyone is equally valued.

Leaders and governors have high expectations of what pupils can achieve. Pupils respond positively to the challenges set for them. They enjoy learning and achieve well.

Diversity is not just tolerated at this school, it is celebrated. Pupils and staff have won national recognition for the work that they have done to promote inclusion. There is a well established culture of respect. Bullying is rare. Leaders have systems in place to tackle any incidents of bullying or poor behaviour swiftly and effectively. Consequently pupils are happy and safe."
