West Kirby Grammar School believes in excellence and endeavours to promote the highest standards in all aspects of school life, whether in the classroom, on the sports field or in the community. The school provides an environment that is intellectually stimulating but secure, enabling students to prepare for the challenges and opportunities of the twenty-first century.

Learning in the classroom is enhanced and supported by field trips, educational visits and a wide range of other opportunities. As a Comenius School we have links with partner schools in other European countries, many established foreign exchanges and visits.

Year 7 and Year 9 enjoy residential outdoor opportunities and many of our senior students appreciate and benefit from the challenges presented by participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

The school is proud of its reputation for success in a wide range of competitive sports. Students are regularly selected to represent their sport at county, regional and national levels.

Pastoral care and guidance are important and Form Teachers play a key role. Heads of Year bridge and help to support the academic and personal development of the students.

The well being of the staff is equally important. Continuing Professional Development is offered to all. Staff are offered holistic therapy and use of the fitness suite as part of a well-being programme. The award of the National Healthy Schools’ Standard recognised the good work and the importance given to healthy living.

The vision for the school as a Science College is to be a centre of excellence on the Wirral and for Science and Mathematics teaching and learning. The school aims to raise overall standards from an already extremely high level in Science and Mathematics and across the whole curriculum at all Key Stages and to contribute to enhanced standards in Science and Mathematics in partner schools.
