Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a talented, well qualified and inspiring Geography specialist to join a vibrant department, and teach the subject from Years 4 to Scholarship level with a focus on the upper year groups. The successful candidate will also have the ability to teach an additional subject.

A thriving and successful selective preparatory school, we have high academic standards and the role offers many opportunities to build on the work of an already successful department that consistently achieves excellent results.

We provide a broad, high calibre education for all of our 460 pupils aged 4-13 and aim to ensure a happy, secure and energetic community in which our pupils and our staff can flourish.  The successful candidate will be expected to immerse themselves in the extra-curricular and pastoral life of this busy school.

We welcome applications from across the full range of school settings.

Located in Belsize Park we are easily accessible on the Metropolitan, Jubilee and Northern lines.

Jess Johnson, The Hall’s Deputy Head Learning and Teaching and Teacher of Geography:

“I trained to teach in two large mixed state comprehensive schools.  I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and went on to become an NQT at a very large state comprehensive in Ilford.  After 5 years at the school and having taken my form class from year 7 to 11 I decided it was the right time to move on.  A move to a Prep School hadn't been what I had planned but after seeing the advert, applying and then having visited the school I decided that a move to The Hall was just what I was looking for.

The Hall offered a fast paced, dynamic environment and Geography is taught as an individual subject from Year 4-8 and therefore students and parents hold the subject in high regard.  Not only this, but the opportunity to become involved in sport was possible and I was able to continue being a form tutor, something I loved doing at my previous school.  Field trips are encouraged and wholly supported and there are so many opportunities to work with other departments, as well developing cross-curricular links.

The Hall is a fantastic place to work there is a real sense of community between staff, students and parents and every day presents new opportunities and experiences.”

The Hall is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employer and the DBS.
