St Mary’s Catholic High School is a popular 11-18 mixed Academy with excellent student behaviour and judged to be ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted October 2012). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified German Teacher to join an outstanding school and become a valuable member of a well-respected and effective team at one of the top performing schools in the country. 

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional classroom practitioner with high expectations of standards and the ability to inspire and motivate our students to achieve. The successful candidate will be required to contribute effectively to the delivery of German across the age range and ability spectrum up to and including A Level. He/she will ideally also be required to teach French and/or Spanish.

St Mary’s Catholic High School is a mixed secondary academy in North Derbyshire. The school converted to a Catholic voluntary-aided academy in the summer of 2012. St Mary’s is located north of Chesterfield, with places for 1,300 students aged 11-18, of which 285 are in the sixth form. The school primarily serves North East Derbyshire, but some students travel from as far afield as Sheffield. 

St Mary’s Catholic High School is supported by the Catholic dioceses of Hallam and Nottingham, with additional governors appointed to represent parents, staff and the local authority.

St Mary’s Catholic High School is committed to providing a variety of opportunities to students at all stages of their development. There is exemplary behaviour around the school. Students are unfailingly courteous and polite to adults, and each other. Students say that bullying is not a concern and it is very rare for any disruption to occur in lessons. Students are kept very safe in the school and it is clear from their attitudes to school and their attendance that students are extremely proud to be a part of the community of St Mary’s Catholic High School.”
