Job overview

This an excellent opportunity for an inspirational, enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher of German to join our very successful department. With the recent completion of our new school, which has fantastic facilities for all subjects, it is an exciting time to join Swakeleys. German is a highly successful subject at GCSE and is also offered at A Level. The ability to teach French would be desirable but is not essential.

We are an all-girls school with a mixed 6th form and in 2019 (most recent external exams) we achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.84.

This post would suit an ECT or an experienced practitioner. There is the opportunity to take on a TLR (£2841) to lead German within the MFL department, for an experienced candidate.

Full details of the post can be found on our website.

Closing date for applications is 12pm, Tuesday 15 February 2022.

Swakeleys School for Girls is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

At Swakeleys we are proud of being a comprehensive girls school. Girls have the opportunity to flourish in a single sex community to become happy, confident and successful young women. They are encouraged to achieve academic success within a supportive, caring environment. They are given opportunities to develop their interests and talents in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and above all, they are safe and secure. The Sixth Form is a great strength and provides a wide range of courses in a coeducational environment.

We are a high achieving school in which there is a focus on excellent teaching and learning and high standards of behaviour. We want to get the best from every girl, raising standards even higher whilst maintaining our caring ethos. We encourage our pupils to take responsibility, to make a valuable contribution to the running of the school and to become respected members of our community.

We are over-subscribed, have a very good climate for learning, an outstanding range of extra-curricular activities and in May 2022 were judged Good by Ofsted in all four judgement areas.

I hope very much that you will take the opportunity to learn more about our school and consider joining us. From my experience those who choose Swakeleys are not disappointed.
