Job overview

Teacher of Girls Physical Education - Maternity Cover.

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive Academy, based in Cullingworth, Bradford. The school is looking to add a Teacher of Physical Education to its progressive and supportive Girls PE Department ideally starting in January 2021.

The role will include teaching and coordinating the delivery of Physical Education at KS3, GCSE and A-level across year groups 7 to 13. You will support the Head of PE to enhance provision and will get the chance to get involved with exciting project work throughout the year. Project work will include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. You’ll also lead by example, supporting learners to achieve to the best of their ability and you’ll enjoy that great feeling when your learners achieve grades beyond their dreams.

“Applications are invited for a suitably qualified person to apply for the fixed term maternity post of girls’ PE teacher. The school is a highly inclusive school rated good by Ofsted. The post commences in January 2021 and being a fixed term maternity cover could be for a 12 month period, or until the post holder returns, whichever is the sooner.

Our vision for the School is that our School should visibly and substantively impact on the community it is embedded within. This impact should be important, meaningful and considerable. This means young people from the school should develop into well-rounded young people who know how to keep themselves safe. We want students to have a personal and specific hope for the future which they can articulate, believe in and share with others; students who can empathise, critique, protect, love, inspire, make, design, explore and understand; students who are willing to try things they have never done before, do things they don’t want to do and be willing to reinvent themselves to become the best that they can be.

This year we are focussing on 3 values. The first is Wellbeing. Essential in the current situation, it is also critical to securing a foundation from which young people can grow. The second is Resilience. So often, young people lack resilience. Now, more than ever, we need to focus on making a quick recovery from the difficulties we have experienced. Finally, and the one which is closest to my heart, is Courage. To take the school from the good school that it is to the exceptional school we want it to be, we will need to be courageous. We will need to try new things, be open to change and have the courage to put ourselves out of our comfort zones in order to grow.

As with all visions, they mean little unless there is a clear plan for how they will be achieved. At the school, this plan will focus on 4 areas. The first is exceptional personal development, ensuring that pupils have access to wide and varied opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. The second is excellent preparation for the future. Thirdly, excellent partnerships for learning. Finally, excellent achievement. This will only be achieved with excellent teaching and learning in the classroom and when students have the self-confidence, self-esteem and support to become someone they may have never seen before – their very best selves.”

The school is offering:

• A super supportive and highly visible SLT team and Headteacher;

• on-going CPD with programmes of study such as NPQML and MA in Educational Leadership

• progression support throughout the school and wider group

• support package for NQT’s/RQT’s including CPD and NQT mentorship;

• the chance to take on further responsibility such as TLR or Leadership roles in the future.
