About us

We have recently made the transition from a Middle School to a Secondary with a new Key Stage 4 provision and plans for future growth. Ofsted recently stated that ‘Teaching and Learning is improving rapidly because of powerful leadership. Students behave very well around the school, have positive attitudes towards their learning and feel safe.’ We are very optimistic about the future so if you feel inspired to be part of this journey and believe that all young people can achieve high standards, we want to hear from you.

NQTs

You can be assured that we will invest in developing your practice to ensure you succeed. All NQTs are required to attend the NQT development programme where you will be taken through a range of core areas of professional development including induction and training days where all the NQT’s from the Trust are brought together. This training doesn’t stop at NQTs as the Learning Alliance also offers programmes for Teachers looking to develop techniques and strategies to improve classroom practice.

In return

You can be assured that you will be joining a successful Multi-Academy Trust that has a great track record in helping children to succeed. The Trust is dedicated to valuing and developing the workforce, through ensuring a fair workload and offering access to bespoke CPD from the Learning Alliance to enhance professional growth.

Visits are warmly welcomed. Please contact Jackie Bradley, PA to the Principal, on 01582 863294 or email: jbradley@houghtonregisacademy.org to arrange a mutually convenient time.

For more information, please visit http://www.greenwoodacademies.org/vacancy/11829/

Closing date: Noon on 3rd July 2017.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks, therefore, all posts within the Trust are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Houghton Regis is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary academy in Bedfordshire. The school opened in September 2012 under the sponsorship of Greenwood Academies Trust as a middle school. It has since converted to become an 11 to 16 secondary school. As of the most recent inspection there were 304 students on the school roll, but this was prior to the opening of the sixth form in September 2017. The school is located close to University Technical College of Central Bedfordshire and The Chiltern School. The town of Houghton Regis has a population of 17,500, and is a fifteen minute drive from central Luton. The university motto is ‘be inspired’.

Principal

Martin Bonner

Values and vision

The Academy’s aims are simple: to offer a first class education to all of its students, allowing them to flourish both socially and academically, to grow into being the best they can be. The school seeks to develop young people into confident, articulate and well-rounded young adults. Through high quality teaching and exceptional pastoral care there is an aim to prepare young men and women to face the challenges of higher education, high quality employment and the future careers of their choice.

Houghton Regis Academy promotes a wide curriculum that encourages both academic excellence and vocational pursuits. Subjects available to students range from Hospitality and Catering, Creative iMedia, to Graphic Products.

Ofsted

“The principal’s vision and determination have enabled the transition from the school’s previous status as a middle school to an 11 to 16 secondary school to be achieved smoothly. This work has ensured that high expectations of behaviour and safeguarding are well established. An ethos of pride in being part of the school is evident among pupils.”
