Job overview

St George Catholic College is an oversubscribed, high performing school, with a proven track record of continued success and a wide variety of high-quality sports facilities and outdoor space. It is currently ranked in the top 5% of schools nationally with a progress 8 score of +0.75 for the class of 2022 results. We are looking to expand the Physical Education department hence the need to recruit a specialist girls Physical Education Teacher. A Section 8 OFSTED inspection took place in November 2021 noting enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if they were to carry out a section 5 inspection and recommended a graded inspection in the next 12/24 months. The report stated that “This is a very friendly school and pupils enjoy coming in each day”. Pupils’ kindness towards each other is underpinned by the school’s Catholic ethos and their ‘ASPIRE’ values of respect and positive relationships. Pupils and teachers often talk about the school as being “like one big family”. They celebrate the range of different cultures and backgrounds that make up their school community. It is a college in which we have a commitment to knowing every student and ensuring they fulfil their potential.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and committed full time teacher of girls PE, who will bring exceptional enthusiasm, passion and talent in a range of sports. The post provides an excellent opportunity to develop your career with a 3G all-weather pitch, multi-gym, playing fields, large sports hall and brand-new netball courts. The right candidate would benefit from entering a supportive environment with 5 full time specialists who have a wide range of skills, innovation and experience.

The Physical Education department is a consistently ‘Outstanding’ team of fantastic teachers, that deliver both GCSE Physical Education and BTEC Tech Award in sport. There is a strong culture of sporting success and participation at all levels within the school, competing in local, regional and national competitions. There is no requirement to be Catholic and we would welcome applications from ECT’s, or more experienced teachers.
