The Vocational team of Our Lady's Catholic College are seeking to appoint a teacher of Health and Social Care and Child Play, Learning and Development.  This is a full time post to cover maternity leave.

The Vocational department is a well-established and highly motivated team.  The dynamic department enjoys an excellent team culture that promotes enthusiasm for teaching and learning in a wide variety of vocational subjects.  The department is open-minded and driven, and are committed to offering high quality professional development and encourage the implementation of new teaching and learning strategies that enable excellent progress for students.

At Our Lady’s, staff work together in departments to create shared resources that promote enthusiasm for learning and provide students with the opportunity to progress.  The team understand the importance of ensuring that lessons offer challenge and rigour and continue to develop new schemes of work to ensure students are prepared for the new examinations and coursework requirements.  It is a successful department, which focuses on student outcomes and achieving excellent results at key stages 4 and 5.

The Vocational team currently consists of 4 full time teachers and lessons take place in classrooms which are all equipped with data projectors, interactive white-boards and desk-top computers.  In addition, there is a designated Vocational office which is the hub of the department.

Health and Social Care and Child Play Learning and Development results are excellent and the department boasts positive pupil progress scores.  All courses in Vocational follow Pearson BTEC specifications.  In Health & Social Care KS4 BTEC Level 1-2 Tech Award (YPD12), in Child Play Learning and Development BTEC Level 1-2 First Award (ZVE83) and in Health and Social Care KS5 BTEC RQF Level 3 Extended Certificate (ULV19).  All courses are very popular and each year a number of pupils go on to study a variety of Health and Social Care related courses at degree level.
