Job overview
The Lakes School is seeking a permanent Teacher of History from September 2019. The ability to contribute to the wider humanities curriculum or the wider curriculum offer of the school may be advantageous for a candidate who is seeking a more full-time post.
The post would be suitable for either an NQT or a more experienced teacher but, regardless of length of service, the successful candidate will be highly motivated, creative and innovative. They will challenge and support all students across the ability range and use a variety of teaching strategies to engage students fully and help them make strong progress. They will be committed to the notion that History is an invaluable part of the curriculum, both on its own merits and as a support to other subjects. History consistently proves to be one of the most popular options at GCSE and attracts a strong cohort of the most able students every year at A-level. For an outstanding candidate, there may be an opportunity to teach History to A-Level.
Importantly, the successful candidate will benefit from joining a close-knit, dedicated and forward-thinking department and will have the opportunity to adapt the current curriculum to their own interests or experience. Please see the additional information provided for further details.
The Lakes School is a high achieving, fully comprehensive school in the heart of the Lake District and we make full use of our stunning location.
