Our school is part of the European Schools System, providing fluent education for children whose parents work for European Institutions. Our school community consists of 3,400 pupils of 60 different nationalities and more than 400 members of staff coming from the various Member States and beyond. Pupils are taught in eight main language sections: Danish, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish and Spanish. Set on a spacious, leafy campus in the South of Brussels, we aim to provide innovative teaching programmes that achieve outstanding academic results. Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Proficiency in English equivalent to that of an educated speaker
  • Qualified teacher of History and Human sciences up to the baccalaureate (11-18 years old)
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
  • A high level of professionalism and care for the well-being of children

Preference will be give to a teacher who :

  • Has a teaching experience in a European or international school
  • Integrates new technologies as a pedagogical tool

About European School Brussels I (Uccle)

European School Brussels 1 (Uccle) is a mixed, mainstream, all-through, multilingual, international, state school in Belgium. It has approximately 3,400 students divided into eight language sections. 

European School Brussels 1 (Uccle) was founded in 1958 and was the second of the now 14 European Schools created in Europe. It follows the same curriculum as all other European Schools which is the European Baccalaureate. The European School system comprises of two years of early education, five years of primary and seven years of secondary education.

The main mission of the school is to ensure every child receives a stellar multilingual and multicultural education in a safe and caring environment. Their motto is, ‘Live, learn, work together’. The school celebrates cultural diversity and teaches its pupils to value effort, critical thinking and teamwork. They hope to teach every pupil and staff members to be positive, open, respectful and tolerant in a multicultural environment.  

The curriculum emphasises the importance of science, maths and foreign languages but also offers subjects such as ICT and media skills alongside music. The school prides itself on its school orchestra, band and choir. Extra-curricular activities also include school-organised events such as the biennial Eurosport event, a Model European Parliament and the annual European Schools Science Symposium.
