Ladybridge High School is a warm, friendly and successful school with a clear mission and agreed beliefs that are shared across the school community. We are focused on achieving strong academic outcomes through a rounded education that prepares our learners for life. We are committed to our ‘Trivium’ approach to education, which is summarised on our website here.
The History department is on an exciting journey of rapid improvement to deliver an exceptional education to all learners. The department is highly welcoming, supportive and highly ambitious in both our curriculum and expectations of learners. We are in the process of significantly changing and improving our History curriculum, with significant growth anticipated in student recruitment at KS4 over the coming years.
Ladybridge balances high expectations with a supportive and thoughtful approach to staff wellbeing. This includes:
- 20% PPA time (double the national expectation of 10%)
- A flexible working afternoon each fortnight, where teachers can leave the site at lunchtime
- A staff iPad to enable more flexible approach to working around school and in the classroom
- A study hall to centralise cover for absent staff - reducing both supply staff and the frequency of internal cover
- A collaborative approach to lesson planning and resourcing across the department
The wonderfully diverse population of learners, the emphasis on professional learning for staff and the friendly atmosphere make Ladybridge an interesting and enjoyable place to work. We aspire to be an ‘evidence-informed’ school where teachers are encouraged to read, research, collaborate and take calculated risks in the classroom.

About Ladybridge High School
Message from the Headteacher
I took up the post of Headteacher at Ladybridge High School in the summer term 2019. I am proud to lead this diverse, happy and successful school. Please visit our school website, available here, to learn more about our school. I would also like to encourage you to watch our promotional film, which is available below.
In all, over 37 different languages are spoken at Ladybridge. We are extremely proud of our rich diversity and the strength of relationships across the school. Staff are committed to ‘going the extra mile’, and learners appreciate this. Visitors to the school often remark upon the school’s sense of warmth, of purpose and of pride.
There are significant opportunities for professional learning and development for successful candidates. We aspire to be an ‘evidence-informed’ school where teachers are encouraged to read, research, collaborate and take calculated risks in the classroom. Teachers have significantly more non-contact time than the national average to provide time to plan high quality lessons and to ensure an appropriate work-life balance.
We are currently undergoing building refurbishment and a building extension. The extension will allow us to accommodate more learners to meet the rising demand from families who wish to send their children to Ladybridge. The refurbishment will enable us to provide first-rate facilities across all subject areas and will add to an already distinctive and impressive school site that includes a farm, leisure centre and swimming pool.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to visit the school prior to submitting an application.
P Russell
Headteacher
