History & Politics at South Hampstead High School

History is a very popular subject. Members of the Department work closely together and have a department meeting on a regular basis. We are very supportive of each other and regularly share resources. There is a History Society run by Sixth Form students for younger members of the school and they also invite outside speakers.

There is a well-stocked History section in the school library. Proximity to Central London makes it possible to take girls to the Imperial War Museum, National Portrait Gallery and many conferences and lectures, as well as on visits further afield, for example: the World War One Battlefields.

About the School

“When I first stepped through the doors here, I knew that it was a very special place to be – the wonderful atmosphere, dedicated staff and energetic girls, who are such a pleasure to teach.”
