Job overview

About us and the role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled Class Teacher to join our rapidly growing and friendly team.  If you are an excellent practitioner with the ability to inspire and motivate students, we would like to hear from you.

Avanti Hall is a school that is committed to giving all children an engaging and enriching educational experience. We provide a richly diverse and connected school environment, representative of the world that our pupils will enter. Our pupils mature into individuals who are ambitious, open-minded and confident. Along with our academic pathway, we also take care to support individual character formation and spiritual insight through the Avanti Way.

The Avanti Hall grounds on the outskirts of Exeter, offer a site of inspiring natural beauty. Our main building, Thomas Hall, was built in the 1600s, with established woodland surrounding the main campus area. The building was part of Exeter University’s Duryard Halls of Residence for nearly 100 years before becoming a school.

The staff team at Avanti Hall School are passionate about our school and we are relentlessly focused on improving the achievement and opportunities for all our students. All staff that work at the school will need to subscribe to our ethos and values and seek to improve and develop their own practice and performance for the benefit of our students. This is a unique opportunity to help develop a new and innovative school which is driven by three key elements for both students and staff:

  • Educational excellence
  • Character formation
  • Spiritual insight

As a genuine all-through school, we are in the position to make a long term, lasting and positive impact on our students’ lives.  The behaviour of learners in our schools is excellent and our parents, carers and students are highly aspirational.

Why should you apply

  • You will be working in a fantastic environment.
  • Avanti exists to help each person become a well-rounded human being through intellectual, moral and spiritual growth, and so make the world a better place.

What will you do?

  • Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach
  • Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
  • Be aware of pupils’ capabilities, their prior knowledge and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on these, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn
  • Establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly
  • Work as a team member and identify opportunities for working with colleagues and sharing the development of effective practice with them

  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
  • Clear vision and understanding of how to implement and sustain a high-quality teaching and learning

Diversity and Inclusion
