This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a strong and progressive department in a vibrant and happy school. We are seeking a teacher who has the subject knowledge, skills and drive to make a significant contribution to this already thriving and popular subject area. You will be passionate about History and Politics and committed to securing excellent outcomes for children of all abilities. You will be keen to teach 'knowledge rich' enquiries into global and local histories that reflect the varied family histories of our students, and contribute to department CPD around this. You will also be keen to foster critical historical consciousness among our pupils from age 11 to 18 both within the classroom and across the school, as well as develop alongside the Head of Department, Schemes of Work at KS3. As a highly dedicated and innovative professional, you will join a dynamic team of teaching and associate staff, all determined to ensure that the school maintains its reputation for excellence.

This post would be suitable for an NQT or an experienced teacher.

Oaklands is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in East London. It is a community state school as well as a NSS (National Support School] that provides support to other schools. A smaller than average secondary school, it will provide 850 places for secondary and sixth form students between the ages of 11-18, when fully subscribed.

With over 20 years’ worth of educational success, Oaklands has been a specialist school for science since 2003 and became a specialist modern foreign language school in 2008.
