Required from September 2018, an enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher of History to join an outstanding, innovative team. An ability to teach A Level History is essential and a knowledge or experience of the IB programmes are desirable but not essential and training will be provided, as required.  There may also be an opportunity to teach A Level Politics.

History is one of five subject areas within the Humanities department. The department also includes Business Studies, Geography, Psychology/Sociology and Religious Studies teams. 

In Key Stage 3, all pupils study History, Geography and Religious Studies. Last year, for GCSE, 76% of History students achieved A*-C. In the Sixth Form, in 2017 20 students sat Higher IB in a humanity with 55% achieving 5-7 grades. 48 students took an IB standard in a humanity, with 40% achieving 5-7 grades. 

The Anglo European School is an 11-18 comprehensive school with a curriculum informed by a strong international dimension and with pupils who demonstrate outstanding personal development. All members of staff working at the school support the aims and ethos of the school and participate in the extensive visits programme.

About Anglo European School

Anglo European School is a 11-19, co-educational comprehensive school situated in Ingatestone, Essex. It has approximately 1,415 students.

The school was opened in 1973 after the closure of a secondary modern school led locals to campaign to keep the school open and the Local Authority, Essex, decided to establish a school with a “European Dimension”.

Anglo European School serves local needs but also draw students from across Essex and parts of London. In 1977 it became the first UK state school to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma and in 1995 the first comprehensive school to become a specialist Language college. In 2005 the school established the first co-headship model in a state secondary school.

As a centre of excellence for language learning, the school offers Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish as well as English as an Additional Language and Latin.  Up until age 16 all students study two languages other than English.

In the sixth form, students must study one language. They have a choice of A-levels or an opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma. There is also the chance to study selected parts of the IB Diploma with A-levels. In addition, the International Baccalaureate Career Programme provides an internationally recognised vocational qualification.
