An introduction to our school

At The Priory Belvoir Academy, we aim to retain the best of traditional values in education while being at the forefront of developments in teaching and learning.

The level of academic achievement achieved by pupils at Priory Belvoir has always been strong: progress from Year 7 through to Year 11 is particularly strong. However, we do not forget that each child is unique, and that the key to unlocking his or her enthusiasm for learning will vary from one child to another.  Consequently, the school is committed to providing a broad range of experiences and opportunities for our pupils both inside, and outside, the classroom.

The academy provides a broad curriculum, taught by specialist teachers in specialist areas. There are also many out-of-school activities and clubs, a House system, and a well developed programme of trips and residential visits to places both within the UK and abroad.

There is a full school uniform, and we set a high premium on good standards of behaviour and respect for others.  We believe we are successful in this regard, and we are proud of the pupils at Priory Belvoir.

We have high expectations concerning the achievement and behaviour of all our pupils, whatever their starting points.  "Opportunity and Achievement for All" is a mission statement that guides our actions and our planning and it is important to us that all young people develop a sense of belonging and self-esteem founded upon personal successes. Visitors to our school comment positively on the ethos across the school:

Pupils’ personal development is a key part of school. There is a very strong sense of pride in the academy, shared by staff and pupils. In this atmosphere, pupils develop as individuals with a strong sense of community and identity as well as confidence.

You can be assured that staff at Priory Belvoir will do their utmost to help your child to be happy and successful at school, and with your help and support we are confident we will succeed.
