We have an opportunity for an outstanding Teacher of History to join the Humanities Faculty at William Hulme’s Grammar School, Manchester’s most over-subscribed school and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country.  WHGS is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1400 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.  The Academy has this year opened a brand new Sixth Form Centre which has marked the completion of a huge expansion project over the last two years, so this is a very exciting time to join the school.  

Reporting to the Subject Leader, you will be responsible for teaching History at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.  You will be an outstanding teacher, delivering consistently good and outstanding lessons, an excellent team player with the highest standards of professionalism and expectations of students. You will have up to date subject knowledge and a track record of success in maximising student progress at GCSE and A level.    

As well as being an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about the teaching of History you will also need to demonstrate a commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school.  Across the school, a large range of activities (clubs, trips and visits) take place.

William Hulme’s Grammar School is the second most over-subscribed school in Manchester and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country. WHGS is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1450 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.

The Academy has a relatively new Sixth Form Centre, a two-form entry Primary Phase and has specialist rooms in the Secondary Phase, including fully equipped science labs, a library, ICT resource centre, music practice rooms, design, technology and art rooms.  There is also a sports hall with changing facilities, along with full kitchen and dining facilities in the Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form.
