Job overview

We are looking for an experienced KS4 Teacher of History who is passionate about education and has a flair for working with young people. We look for teachers who are resilient, highly driven and self- motivated, who will go the extra mile to ensure that students achieve beyond their own expectations.

The ideal candidate would be a History specialist who is experienced in teaching the Edexcel GCSE specification and confident at designing schemes of work at KS3. Full and part time applications will be considered.

It is the aim of the History department to deliver an education of benefit to every pupil.  All pupils are encouraged and enabled to reach their potential within the subject.  All are expected to acquire a range of skills, historical and otherwise, and a breadth of knowledge and understanding of the subject.  Pupils are further encouraged to develop a mature approach to study and a sense of responsibility for their own learning.

The department consists of four specialist history teachers who work closely as a team, within the humanities faculty.  The department is well provided with teaching resources.  A wide range of teaching and learning strategies are used in the delivery of History and a range of extra- curricular activities are offered.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students.
  • Support the subject area as appropriate and provide direction for Subject Lead and teachers.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.
  • Provide a motivating and structured learning experience, which will provide students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Contribute significantly to raising standards of students' attainment as a teacher and form tutor.
