Job overview

About the Job:

We wish to appoint a Teacher of History. This is a part time temporary post (0.6FTE) to cover a maternity leave.

 At KS3 we follow the national curriculum and use Aaron Wilkes’ series of textbooks (OUP).

 At KS4 we teach the AQA syllabus. In Year 10, Health and the People and Elizabethan England are studied and in Year 11 the topics are Germany 1890-1945 and the Cold War 1945-1972. We use OUP and Hodder textbooks and have supplementary learning resources.

 At KS5 we teach the AQA syllabus focusing upon Tudor England and Russia under Stalin as the examinable units.  NEA is completed in Year 13 and the topic is American Civil Rights in the 20th c. We use OUP A Level textbooks and have a range of supplementary reading resources.

 Most lessons are taught in history-dedicated classrooms by specialists in the subject.  All classes are mixed ability at KS3 and 4. History is the most popular option for GCSE and is a well-resourced and well-led department. We expect the successful applicant to be teaching mostly KS4 and 5.
