Le Rocquier School are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic team player to lead our History department within the Humanities faculty.

The SA1 supplement is for a candidate who has creative ideas of how to engage students in this important subject, as well as a willingness to explore the curriculum beyond the classroom. You should be able to adapt your teaching style to the diverse needs of our students and have the capability to cultivate rewarding relationships with all members of our school community.

The school is currently focused on developing pedagogy and raising standards. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an already successful faculty while creating your own clear identity for the History department. The school’s facilities are excellent and the Humanities Faculty is located together in one wing of the school. We are keen as a school to develop the potential in our staff and we are driven to support career progression.

The Jersey Teacher Pay Scale is starts at £34,000 and goes up to £56,000 for a main scale post. The SA1 for Head of History is an additional £2,721. There is also a generous relocation package for staff moving to the island.

Opened in 2006, Le Rocquier School is a successful and flourishing co-educational, non-denominational 11-16 School in the Bailiwick of Jersey with outstanding facilities. The island of Jersey is a crown dependency of the United Kingdom, and situated in the English Channel. There are approximately 800 students on the school roll, along with 60 teaching staff and 50 support staff. Our inclusive school is located in the Saint Clement parish, which is located on the island’s southern coast and has a population of around 10,000.

In 2022 80% of our GCSE subjects added value at GCSE.  Maths, English, Science and many, many others all exceeded expectation (adding value).
