We have a vacancy for a confident, enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced teacher of History, to join a successful department from September 2019. 

The successful candidate will: 

• be an excellent History teacher across the full age and ability range

• have a passionate commitment to making History stimulating and relevant for all 

• be familiar with Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 of the National Curriculum, GCSE and A Level requirements

• have the ability to teach Geography at key stage 3 if required

• bring real energy and dynamism to the role, alongside genuine enthusiasm for your subject

• be a skilled ICT practitioner and be comfortable using data to inform planning and intervention

• have the calibre and ambition to develop his or her career in and beyond this post

• be willing to contribute to raising the profile of history across the School, including extra-curricular opportunities

History plays a prominent part in the life of the School and is taught by experience specialist teachers. It is a popular choice at GCSE and Advanced Level. The department has developed international links as well as more local partnerships and is an exemplar of good practice in this high performing School. The department is particularly committed to engaging all students in the study of history, regardless of ability. We run a residential visit to Washington DC aimed at History and Politics students in Years 12 and 13, as well as a range of extra-curricular opportunities at key stage 3.

King Edward VII School is a mainstream, state-community, co-educational, non-denominational, secondary school for children aged 11-18. It is situated in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and it has over 1700 pupils on its roll, including over 600 in Sixth Form.

Students say they feel safe in school and behaviour is good; inspection findings confirm this. The vast majority are proud of their school. Attendance has improved and is now above average.
