Job overview

We are seeking to appoint for April 2018, a part time history teacher who is an excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to inspire enthusiasm in students. The successful candidate will have high expectations in terms of standards and will be able to contribute effectively to the development of the history department in our school.

Teaching in both KS3 and KS4, this role would suit an NQT or an experienced qualified teacher, ideally with a History degree.

This post may suit a colleague who is looking to reduce their time commitments due to personal reasons. Please contact the school to discuss if such an opportunity interests you.

The successful candidate will;

  • be a great classroom practitioner, with the ability to inspire enthusiasm in students.
  • have high expectations, in terms of outcomes, for young people
  • have a love for their subject that will see them contribute effectively to the development of the history department in the school.
  • teach across the age range 11 – 18.

Our mission statement clearly states our principles. We know that a school that lives these principles is one where children thrive, parents have confidence and staff are nurtured and developed; all develop a “love of life” in their time at the school.

Our school is a successful 11 – 18 Catholic High School with 859 on roll (90 in the Sixth Form). Our Catholic ethos is paramount, as is the liturgical life of the school and this is strongly supported by all staff, our feeder primary schools and local parishes.

All teaching staff are Form Tutors and this allows them to fully contribute to the Catholic life of the school in their work. Whilst applications from practising Catholics are highly desired we are open to applications from candidates who share our values and Christian principles – Blessed William Howard is a Catholic school embracing children of all faiths; not a school exclusively for children who are Catholic by faith.

You must submit a Catholic Education Service application form for this post. If you would like to apply, please contact Mrs S Marshall, Headteacher’s PA at the email address below or by telephone, for an application pack and application form, or simply download the details from the school’s website.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and anyone applying to work in our school is expected to share this commitment.

This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Further details regarding this check are available from schools or by visiting www.crb.gov.uk

About Blessed William Howard Catholic School

Our school is a successful 11-18 Catholic High School with 839 on roll (110 in the Sixth Form).  Blessed William Howard Catholic High School has been providing secondary education in the heart of Stafford for over 50 years.

We serve the Catholic community in a wide geographical area in the Archdiocese of Birmingham, stretching up to the village of Brewood on the edge of Wolverhampton, 13 miles to the south and up to the town of Stone, 8 miles to the north. Our admissions policy enables parents who want a faith education for their child to join our community.

Through the teachings of the Catholic Church and our vibrant liturgical life we open paths of discovery, helping children to understand themselves, others and how they may live fulfilled lives, making a positive difference through who and how they are.  Our school offers a haven where all are welcome to flourish as individuals academically, socially, morally and spiritually.

The school became part of Holy Trinity Catholic Multi Academy Company in March 2016.
