Teacher of History
We are seeking to appoint a full-time dynamic, innovative and inspirational teacher to join our History Department to teach across the 11-18 mixed ability range. We are looking for candidates with flair, passion and commitment. Applications are invited from both NQTs and experienced teachers and from all denominations.
St Thomas More Catholic Academy is an 11-18 mixed Catholic comprehensive school with 1015 students on roll which has an excellent reputation throughout the area. On 1 November 2013 St Thomas More together with four primary academies formed the All Saints' Catholic Collegiate (MAC).
The department is well resourced and is the most popular GCSE option choice. The subject also attracts students into Key Stage 5 and results at both GCSE and particularly at A-Level are strong.
Continuous professional learning for staff is a high priority and we are constantly improving our training provision to maximise the positive effect it has on all of our learners. We have regular afternoon sessions ring-fenced for staff development time, together with programmes aimed at those who want to have an impact beyond their own classroom.
NQTs benefit from a Professional Studies programme run collaboratively across Stoke-on-Trent secondary schools and academies. Alongside the support from their Subject Mentor and Induction Tutor, the programme aims to provide practical learning experiences which are readily applicable to classroom practice in city schools and academies.
