Job overview

Could you be part of a highly successful academy where traditional values of discipline and respect underpin exceptional achievement?

Then take your career forward with the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust (MAT). Our approach is built on the success of The Rodillian Academy - the most improved school in the North of England with an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ grading for behaviour.

We have developed a pioneering Positive Discipline framework that’s transformed the behaviour, atmosphere and culture in our schools. By supporting staff in the classroom, we ensure that teachers can get on with teaching children who want to learn and who behave well.

The Rodillian MAT includes The Rodillian Academy itself, as well as The Featherstone Academy, BBG Academy, Brayton Academy and Southway. The trust also has contracts for school improvement work with the Leeds Jewish Free School, John Smeaton Academy, Eskdale School and recently University Academy Keighley.

We now seek an inspiring and ambitious Teacher of History to work within the Trust. The successful candidate will work with a successful, committed and hardworking team. The RMAT has a reputation for high expectations for all, an innovative curriculum and excellent staff/student relationships.

This is a real opportunity for you to make your mark, and as a growing Multi-Academy Trust with an excellent reputation, there are always opportunities for career development and further career progression for resilient and committed colleagues.

For further details about the post and an application pack please visit the Trust website www.rodillianacademytrust.co.uk/vacancies

The Rodillian Academy is housed in a £30 million building. It has large, light and well-resourced spaces, over 1,000 computers, interactive Smartboards in every classroom, a dance studio, a recording studio two gyms and Astro turf pitches.

The Academy has been rated as 'Good' by Ofsted since 2012, with its most recent inspection in 2019, alongside leadership and behaviour being rated as 'Outstanding'.

Behaviour in the Academy is exceptional, and something which we are very proud of.

Our highly successful Sixth Form provision sits within the top 25% nationally too.

Our 2019 inspection saw Ofsted note that “Leaders ensure that pupils learn in a calm and supportive environment. Teachers do not accept disruptions to learning. Pupils behave well, and know who to go to if they need help. Leaders take bullying seriously, and pupils agree. Staff create an orderly environment based on clear routines. Staff encourage pupils to share their views in class, and relationships between pupils and staff are positive and respectful”.

At Rodillian we believe that traditional values of discipline and respect are sacrosanct. We do not tolerate bullying, defiance or rudeness, and this has made for a harmonious and safe learning environment for our young people.

We are proud of the supportive environment we provide for staff, where they can concentrate their efforts on teaching, and their own continuing professional development.

Our school is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Rodillian is a happy Academy where students and staff show respect, consideration, and kindness.
