Job overview

The British Primary School of Wilanow (BSW) is seeking to appoint an exceptional Humanities Teacher with the ability to teach Geography and History. The successful candidate would join the Upper School (Y5-Y9) and become part of its forward-thinking and dynamic team. BSW serves Warsaw's international community by delivering world-class, value-based education and is a fully compliant member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), the first school in Poland to complete this accreditation. This role is for an January 2020 start.

The School

The British Primary School of Wilanow offers a strong British education, founded in the National Curriculum for England and enhanced to meet the requirements of the Polish Education Ministry. It is located in the vibrant Warsaw suburb of Wilanow, where old meets new and city meets country. The historical Royal Wilanow overlooks new, stylish cafes and shops as well as leafy green fields and woods.

The Primary School opened in Autumn 2014, in purpose-built accommodation on a charming greenfield site, with a handful of Nursery-age children. The school now operates Nursery - Year 9 and is one of the leading providers of International Primary Education in Warsaw. Numbers for 19-20 are currently just over 230 pupils and there are waiting lists in most yeargroups. It is predicted that the school will exceed 250 pupils over the course of the academic year.

BSW boasts a purpose built Early Years and Lower, Middle and Upper School sections. Its classrooms are spacious, bright and well equipped with interactive white-boards, modern furnishings and air conditioning. The outdoor facilities include two playgrounds and an artificial sports pitch. There are also ambitious plans for further sports facilities both indoor and outdoor. From the Upper School students avail of specialist subject classrooms which are purpose built.

We are strongly committed to the highest standards of education and have already hosted an Advisory Visit from the ISI Consultancy. BSW is also a Compliant Member of COBIS, having undergone a successful inspection in May 2018, becoming the first school in Poland to be awarded Compliant Status. The School is an independent organisation, not a part of a school group.

The Role

Due to predicted enrolment numbers in January, we are looking for a British-qualified and experienced Humanities Teacher, for a January 2020 start.  Depending on the candidates commitments an immediate start could also be considered.

We have a clear philosophy of education centred on our Walk of the Lion which values Respect, Courage, Cooperation, Consideration and Nobility.

Our teachers are hard working and passionate about education. They set high expectations with regards to the progress of all pupil and are effective and supportive members of the whole school team. At BSW teachers endeavour to place the school values at the heart of everything we do.

BSW has a rich programme of outdoor learning and sports and our teachers play a full part in the cultural, educational and extra-curricular life of the school.

The Candidate

We are seeking applicants with UK teaching qualifications (PGCE or B.Ed.) and experience of working with the English National curriculum in the UK or in an international setting. Recently qualified NQTs with appropriate experience are also welcome to apply.

The ideal candidate will support the Upper School team in achieving its ambitious targets and goals, delivering high quality and inspiring History and Geography lessons to pupils aged 9-14.
