As a teacher of Humanities at Denefield, (offering at least two subjects from Geography, History and Philosophy and Ethics) you will join an experienced group of qualified teachers who work as a team with a friendly, sharing culture.  With opportunities to teach across all key stages, and career progression opportunities within and outside of the department, you will benefit from a programme of professional development aimed at helping you to develop your practice and your career.

At Denefield we believe passionately that every young person should gain the qualifications and develop the character skills to have ‘Success for Life’.  To prepare them for this, we offer a rigorous and engaging curriculum with creative and practical subjects alongside traditional academic courses and all students work hard at developing the school’s nine CHARACTER values – confidence, happiness, articulacy, resilience, ambition, courage, tolerance, empathy and respect.

Staff wellbeing is a key priority at Denefield and we strive to foster a better work/life balance for our staff through a number of initiatives, including a cycle to work scheme, annual flu vaccinations and on-site yoga classes.  In addition, each training day ends with a wellbeing activity.  We know that happy teachers make for happy classrooms.

Denefield School is an 11-18 academy in West Berkshire which provides secondary education for approximately 1,000 children and young people of both Reading and West Berkshire Local Authorities.
