The Role

St John's College is a leading independent school for girls and boys aged 3 to 18. With 550 pupils on its roll, St John’s is the Choir School to Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral and seeks to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of ICT, to join our ICT & Business Department, to teach across the ability range and up to and including KS4. Equally, the College wish to appoint a candidate with the ability to deliver Computer Science lessons, initially as a co-curricular club, generating interest for the subject so the College can give consideration to offering Computer Science as an elective course in the near future. 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the capacity to inspire and develop pupils and will have demonstrable experience in delivering strong results. Familiarity with the WJEC specification and experience in working with/alongside other departments to put together and deliver STEM based initiatives is particularly advantageous.  


The ICT and Business Department aims to get pupils to reach the highest possible standard that they can achieve, ensuring that they are well prepared for both internal and external examinations, higher education and the world of work.

St John’s College, Cardiff, is an independent, co-educational day school for children aged 3-18. It is the choir school to Cardiff’s Metropolitan Cathedral and is a Catholic school with 466 pupils on its roll. It is situated in Old St Mellons, three miles outside of central Cardiff. Admission is normally granted subject to mutual compatibility. 

St John’s College provides the girls and boys choristers for weekly services, two annual concerts at Cardiff’s St David’s Hall and concert tours across continental Europe. The Archbishop of Cardiff is its patron, while the Dean of the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Parish Priest are regular visitors. There is a formal link with the Cathedral Choral Foundation in the provision of choristers and music staff for the Cathedral Choir.  

The school is split into four sections: nursery and infant, junior school, senior school and sixth form.
