Job overview

TEACHER OF ICT
MPS/UPS, London Fringe Pay Scale

Required for September 2017, a dynamic, well-qualified and committed teacher of ICT, with a willingness to deliver some computer science lessons, to join our ICT and Computing department.

The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is a school where students achieve well and are part of a strong, caring community. Our school’s ambition was recognised by Ofsted in May 2016 when it was stated that, “School leaders are ambitious.  They want the school to become outstanding and they are doing the right things to achieve this.”

In 2016 52% of students achieved 5 or more A* to C grades (including English and Mathematics. IT results for 2016 were significantly above national average with 79% of students achieving A*to C in GCSE ICT and 100% of student achieving A* to C equivalent in the BTEC First Award in Information and Creative Technology. At Key Stage 5 this success was replicated with results in the top 10% of schools for the BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma and Diploma qualifications.

The ICT/Computing Department consists of four full time teachers, all with their own dedicated teaching space.

We are looking to appoint a teacher of ICT and Computing to work within a strong and innovative ICT/Computing department within Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Currently the school offers a Level 2 BTEC ICT course, GCSE Computer Science and GCSE ICT. At Key Stage 5 we offer A Level ICT, Cambridge Technical in IT and are introducing A Level Computer Science from September 2017. As a Technology College we have invested heavily in ICT across the school and the department is housed in excellent facilities. This post would be an excellent opportunity for an NQT or an experienced teacher.

We are keen to appoint dedicated staff who are eager to support our students to achieve in all aspects of their school life and who want to be key contributors to our school’s success. We welcome applications from teachers at any stage of their careers, including NQTs.

We encourage visits from prospective candidates to meet members of our school community and to experience our school at first hand. If you would like to do this please contact Ann Pullin, PA to the Headteacher on 01268 474485 or via email on recruitment@bromfords.essex.sch.uk

A recruitment package, including financial assistance and benefits, is available.

The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be offered a position subject to full pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Values and vision

The Bromfords School  key aim is to be a school where its pupils are happy; where they feel safe and able to express themselves; and where they can access a challenging and appropriate curriculum. Promoting positive role models and fostering individual and collective pride are viewed as important, playing a role in creating pupils who are confident learners, able and ready to conquer barriers to success.

Academic progress is regularly monitored, although success in this area is not the be all and end all to education at the school. A wide range of extra-curricular and sporting activities are on offer, reflecting a holistic approach to developing pupils’ abilities.

The school’s sixth form, which benefits from small classes, prides itself on offering students a bespoke curriculum. Its aim is to encourage its students not only to develop a lifelong love of learning but to become caring and active citizens in the local community.

Ofsted

“The governors and headteacher have a vision for the school which middle leaders and staff share. There is a clear culture of hard work and good behaviour throughout the school. Governors and leaders have a firm understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for further development.”
