Teacher of Information Technology with Design Technology knowledge

Cumnor House Sussex is looking for an ICT Teacher who, with the aid of a highly experienced DT Assistant/Tech, could also teach Design Technology to children aged 8-13 years. Joining this outstanding Prep School in Sussex, you would have the use of superb DT facilities in our new STEM building, and lead the development of  ICT in teaching and learning. As part of an all-round, varied ‘Prep School’ experience, you will be introducing interesting and inspiring project-based DT to children from Year 5 up to our potential Year 7/8 Scholars.  You will also use your experience to enhance the School’s ICT provision, including online learning – an exciting prospect fully supported by the Headmaster and Governors.

Important responsibilities would include acting as the School’s e-Safety Officer and Online Learning Officer, advising the Academic Leadership Team in these matters. Whilst this position would suit an experienced teacher looking for new challenges and a congenial environment, it is also possible that an NQT could contribute what is needed in the way of forward thinking, knowledge of new technology and fresh ideas.  Whatever your background, you should be, or have the potential to be, an excellent classroom practitioner, bringing passion and enthusiasm to the role along with the ability to teach proactive and focused lessons to children from age 8-13 years. You will probably hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification along with the desire and dedication to ensure high standards of pupil progression and attainment.

As Head of both Departments (leading the DT Technician and sharing your ICT knowledge with other staff in general) you will need to be administratively well organised, self-motivated and have a vision of the strategic direction you would like your subjects to take within the School. Cross-Curricular activities are particularly encouraged, and there is a strong ambition within the School to improve standards of teaching and learning, with high expectations of staff and pupils within a happy and purposeful environment.
