Job overview

We are looking for a fractional teacher (18.5 hours per week) to join our Teacher Education team at the Roundhouse on a fixed term basis until 31.07.22, starting as soon as possible.

You will be a dedicated and motivated professional, passionate about teaching & learning, ready to provide initial teacher education at Level 3 to Level 7.  

Possessing significant teaching experience, you will have an excellent understanding of the curricula within post-14 education.  You will be responsible for planning schemes of work, lessons and facilitating learning sessions to meet the needs of students, observing learners in their own settings and assessing progress.  Together with effective administration and interpersonal skills and a commitment to working as part of a team, an essential aspect of the role. This post includes evening teaching up to two evenings per week.

As a minimum, you will need a degree, L2 qualifications in English and Maths and a full teaching qualification.  Experience of level 7 is preferable.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
