The Mirfield Free Grammar & Sixth Form
Teacher of Integrated Studies
Permanent, full time role – MPS/UPS
Required for September 2018
A permanent Teacher of Integrated Studies job opportunity in our lively comprehensive school with over 1500 students on roll, situated in the town of Mirfield in Kirklees, West Yorkshire. A school where ‘Many pupils benefit from high-quality teaching where teachers use their specialist knowledge and passion for their subject to ensure that learning is well structured.’ (OFSTED, 2017).
We are on an exciting journey and we welcome aspirational and ambitious Integrated Studies teachers to join our thriving staff community.
Your new role:
Integrated Studies looks at the areas of religious studies, philosophy, theology, ethics, careers and citizenship. This curriculum is further enhanced with a comprehensive PSHCE programme that focuses on a wide range of health and wellbeing issues.
In addition to the courses followed by all students throughout Years 7-11, students are given the opportunity to continue their studies and complete the Philosophy and Ethics A Level.
What you need to succeed:
We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and NQTs. However, it is imperative that you are passionate about your subject and have dedication and drive to ensure only the very best outcomes for each and every one of our students. We would be very interested to meet with applicants who can offer Philosophy & Ethics at A Level, although this is not essential.
You will be instrumental in inspiring and motivating our students and you will be required to play an active role in helping to drive the Academy forward.
What you’ll get in return:
Staff welfare is paramount here at Mirfield Free Grammar and we understand the importance of ensuring that our entire team are both supported and developed professionally. We have our fantastic Wellbeing Centre, based on the school grounds, for both staff & students to access. The Wellbeing Team includes our Senior Safeguarding Manager who works alongside our trained Counsellor to provide high quality and skilled personalised support for staff & students.
Our weekly CPD sessions are focussed on constant Teaching & Learning improvement, with regular features such as Raising Standards, Bespoke Data Training, Whole School Strategies and Revision Training.
We are confident that new teachers joining our school will feel welcomed from the moment they start their journey with us and we absolutely encourage prospective applicants to visit school prior to applying. This is a truly exciting opportunity for someone who wants to develop their teaching career within a small but very ambitious Multi-Academy Trust.
