Do you have what it takes to work one of the top 10% of schools nationally? If so, we want you!
We seek to appoint a passionate, dedicated and highly motivated Teacher of IT and Business with the skills and experience to deliver successful outcomes in KS3 and KS4. Over the past four years, Business has grown to be the most popular and successful option subject at Baysgarth, with 13 KS4 groups running next year. ICT is currently only taught at KS3, but the vision for this subject is that it grows rapidly as an option choice, which learners enjoy and will achieve excellent outcomes. We are looking for an individual that will help us grow ICT by delivering strong lessons at KS3 that will encourage a positive uptake at KS4. The successful applicant will also be expected to deliver KS4 Business lessons. You will receive a structured CPD programme led by an Assistant Head Teacher to support you with this. You will have your own IT suite fitted with 30 PCs and an interactive whiteboard. The school is well-resourced with five IT suites and sets of laptops and iPads.
If you have the passion and drive to teach in a school well on the way to being Outstanding, we would love to meet you. Our students are amazing. They are intelligent, articulate, funny, welcoming and appreciative of great teaching. They deserve the best and we are passionate about making sure that this is what they receive, in every subject, every day of their school lives.
Over the past four years we have focused on recruiting and developing a world class teaching team and we firmly believe that in every department we have strong teams that are capable of creating the truly great school that this community deserves. We are now trying to put the final pieces of our staffing jigsaw together and seek inspirational practitioners who enjoy putting smiles on student's faces and pushing them to reach their potential.
We wish to appoint a colleague who:
• enjoys working with young people and has the flair, energy and ability to bring the best out of them;
• has the ability, vision, drive and skills to deliver outstanding outcomes at all key stages;
• is, or has the potential to be, an outstanding teacher;
• is looking to join a successful department that embraces the collaborative learning philosophy;
• has a tangible passion for their subject and the ability to share this with young people.
A stone’s throw from the heart of the UK’s City of Culture for 2017, overlooking one of the 20th Century’s most impressive construction projects and located at the heart of the burgeoning UK centre for renewables, Baysgarth School is now in the most exciting phase of its history. In November 2016 we moved into our brand new state-of-the-art campus, which comprises Baysgarth School, the Humber Skills Centre and Baysgarth Sports Village. The school has risen quickly to become one of the top performing schools in the region, achieving top 5% outcomes for CVA Progress 8 for two years running and the highest 3-year P8 average of all the local schools. We are oversubscribed in Year 7 every year which reflects the first class facilities we have on site as well as our fantastic students and staff who make the school a great place to learn.
Ofsted visited Baysgarth in October 2017 and concluded that we are a Good school which ‘has gone from strength to strength’ and is making ‘good progress on the journey to outstanding’. In terms of student achievement, Ofsted reported that ‘Overall progress was in the top 10% nationally … [and] current pupils are making strong progress in all year groups.’ The DfE have concluded that ‘there is no better performing similar school within 75 miles of Baysgarth’ and it is our mission to recruit the most talented staff to continue this progress.
The Head Teacher has many years’ experience of transforming outcomes in a number of secondary schools and at the heart of his vision is creating and developing close-knit teams, focused on collaboration, mutual support and risk-taking. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their commitment to the core principles and values of ambition, fairness, consistency, rigour and putting students first.
Baysgarth School is an 11-16 comprehensive with approximately 800 pupils on roll, a number that will rise to 900 in the next two years. The successful candidate will be expected to have pride, passion, positivity and vision and a desire to ensure the school has the highest possible reputation in the local community and beyond.
Baysgarth School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for enhanced disclosure from the DBS.
