This is a fantastic opportunity to join an over-subscribed, aspirational, rapidly improving academy which, following last year’s examination results was in the top 25% of schools, nationally, for Progress 8 and had the top achieving Sixth Form in Derbyshire. The Pingle Academy, part of The de Ferrers Trust, lies at the heart of the National Forest area and provides for students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. We benefit from a wide range of specialist facilities which include extensive provision for sports, a well-equipped Performing Arts Centre, a Learning Support Base, two Autism Resource Centres and a purpose built Sixth Form Centre. Sixth Form students invariably gain places at the university/course/apprenticeship of their choice. As the academy of choice for our local area, you will be part of a supported community and, most importantly, a warm and friendly environment in which to educate our young people. We offer an employee reward package, which includes car leasing discounts and our own independent travel consultant.
The culture at The Pingle Academy ensures an aspirational, ambitious and creative place to learn and work. As a result of our popularity with the local community we are expanding in order to meet demand. The number of students on roll currently is 1132 and predicted to grow to above 1,300 in the next 3 years. Our aim is to work with parents, carers and families to prepare children for their adult lives in a rapidly changing world. We are a truly inclusive academy and share the responsibility for creating a safe and pleasant place to work. We are proud of our efforts to educate and care for all of our students which are reflected in our mission statement ‘A place for everyone: RESPECT ENGAGE SUCCEED’.
The IT Faculty currently has 2 IT specialists and staffing is increasing due to increasing student numbers at the academy. From September 2019 students will study Imedia from yr9 through to yr11 and Computer Science will be available at KS5. Yr9 and yr12 students all have an iPad and the academy is in the process of rolling this out to all students. All teaching staff have an iPad. There are 6 IT rooms with around 300 workstations (and a similar number of laptops) providing a ratio of 1:2 which is in line with government target. All the classrooms are well resourced with IT equipment. The academy continually invests in CPD to ensure teaching is good or better. The academy has the support of a Network Manager and IT Technician.
We provide a broad and stimulating curriculum and set the highest standards of learning and behaviour. By doing so we encourage students to reach for these standards with confidence. We work to remove barriers to learning and achievement so all students can make rapid progress and achieve desired outcomes.
