Job overview

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is right at the forefront of maths education, both in terms of ensuring students are taught maths for deep understanding, and in enabling  every student to leave school with a maths qualification that opens doors for them.  We have a curriculum that allows for this and the training and support for teachers to feel confident to facilitate this for all.

Our Executive Director leads the Yorkshire and Humber Maths Hub.  This, as well as her work with the DfE, means OGAT maths is helping to inform and mould the landscape of maths, regionally and nationally.

We have a great training package for NQTs and teachers new to the academy including: Teaching for Mastery; Open Classroom events; Maths Matters; TSST; Reasoning at KS3; weekly professional development time and further programmes free through the Outwood Institute of Education.  We invest in you so you invest in our students.

We welcome applications for our Tees Valley region of the Trust from teachers of any experience, who love maths and have a passion to develop this in others.  You could progress quickly across our Family of Schools if that was what you were looking for, through maths leadership or through our Deeps structure; but, if you just want to be the best maths teacher you can be, then we are also the Trust for you!

Applications for these posts will be considered for any vacancies at the following academies. This will be discussed with you in more detail at the interview and you will be given the opportunity to express your preference(s):

• Outwood Academy Acklam

• Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth

• Outwood Academy Bydales

• Outwood Academy Normanby

• Outwood Academy Ormesby

• Outwood Academy Redcar

Outwood Academy Acklam became part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust in 2013 and strives to be an exemplar of best practice for schools across the North East of England. Outwood Academy Acklam is rated Good by Ofsted with Outstanding leadership and we are delighted to be based in the friendly North East town of Middlesbrough.

We are proud that in its report, Ofsted noted that ‘Staff morale is extremely high’ at the academy and that our staff ‘are proud to work at Outwood Academy Acklam’, and highlighted that our staff ‘say that senior leaders listen to and value their opinions.’

We are innovators with a knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, helping them to reach their potential.

Our objective is to create well-rounded and successful citizens who deeply embrace British Values: respect for democracy and the rule of law, passion for individual liberty, a commitment to mutual respect, and tolerance for differing faiths and beliefs.

We aim to create an environment where every student leaves with an enquiring and open mind, ready to deal with all of life's challenges and engage with a diverse, thrilling and constantly changing world.

We have won numerous awards as a school and we are proud to have been awarded Gold Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award and Inclusion Centre of Excellence by IQM.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
