An inspirational teacher of Land, Environment and Animal related subjects is required at The Dorset Studio School on The Kingston Maurward Estate, in Dorchester. 

Learning on a 750 acre country estate, our students follow a traditional GCSE curriculum, whilst also specialising in vocational animal and land based learning, within a rural context. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and contributing to the development of Land, Environment and Animal related subjects at Key Stage three.  At key stage four, you will teach and assess the specialist vocational subjects of City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Award in Land Based Studies and the BTEC First Award in Animal Care. Strong theory knowledge together with sound practical skills are essential requirements in delivering high quality teaching to achieve outstanding student outcomes. You will form part of a team of dedicated and committed staff that are committed to continual improving the schools unique land- based specialism and ethos. You will have strong pedagogical skills, as well as a clear focus on raising attainment. A keen science and environmental awareness is a key aspect of the role, as is the ability to explore every opportunity to apply learning across the beautiful Dorset countryside.

There may also be opportunities to broaden your role by supporting the highly successful Forest School programme that develops children’s confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.

Dorset Studio School is an 11-16 school with a rigorous academic curriculum, also incorporating extensive opportunities for outdoor learning work experience.

The Dorset Studio School opened in September 2014, welcoming students to a brand new specialist school designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge and experience they require to succeed in work.

Dorset Studio School offers this new concept in education, where 11–16 year olds can benefit from a different model of learning that captures and channels potential to the highest levels. Dorset Studio School is an Academy and part of a national network of similar schools supported by the Studio Schools Trust.

In partnership with Kingston Maurward Agricultural College, young people have the opportunity to complete their 11-19 studies, within a fully operational, commercial environment, which provides hands on learning in the rural industries.

Located in Dorchester, in the heart of Dorset, the Studio School who specialise in environment and land-based sciences. The school  explores how the land works to deliver educational excellence and opportunity by making the most of our rich natural resources while responding to employer and wider community needs.
