Job overview

Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which has been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.

We seek a new Teacher to join the team as we introduce BTEC Law alongside the well-established A level course. You will have a degree in Law or a closely allied subject, with the skills and commitment to inspire our students, currently numbering approximately 400 over the two year groups. Experience or a special interest in the BTEC vocational route would be particularly useful, although we welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified Teachers of A level or BTEC.

The vacancy in Law is part time, for at least 10 sessions (0.3846 FTE). However, we also have vacancies in other growth areas, so we may be able to offer a more substantial part time or a full time opportunity should you also be interested to teach in other areas which include Sociology, Criminology, Psychology and History. Please make it clear in your application whether you wish to be considered for any other subjects in addition to Law and if you wish to work full or part time.

Please note that posts advertised to start in September 2020 actually commence with student enrolment on Tuesday 25 August 2020.  Teaching staff are required to work this week but should you have an existing commitment please make this clear on your application and we will honour it.

Closing date:  12 noon on Tuesday 25 February 2020

Interview date: 11 or 12 March 2020

More details and information on how to apply are available on our website at www.psc.ac.uk  under Staff Vacancies. If you require further assistance please phone the Personnel Department on 01962 857557 or email jobs@psc.ac.uk quoting the reference number 11/20.

We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. Our staff undertake regular safeguarding and Prevent training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.

Values and vision

'Counting in Ones' is our motto and is the key principle which guides everything we do. Value added is good and the large majority of our students progress to higher education, many to Russell Group universities. A large number of our students each year, usually around fifty, are able to secure places at the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Pastoral support is well resourced and students also benefit from an unusual range of music, sporting and other enrichment opportunities.

Ofsted
