Exmouth Community College is currently seeking a qualified teacher to take on a role teaching Literacy/Auditory Processing.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide outstanding teaching and learning of Literacy to ensure high attainment of students. Teaching within a primary school setting would be considered relevant experience for this post.
The Discovery Stream is a modification to the KS3 Curriculum for students who have weak literacy skills AND poor short term, working memory. Students are identified during the first half term of Year 7 and, after consultation with parents, moved into Discovery after the October half term. Students are disapplied from Modern Foreign Languages and have their Humanities lessons in their Discovery groups.
Discovery lessons are taught by a range of teachers from the languages department and within Humanities (History, Geography, and Religion). A further teacher (this post) predominantly works with students in Years 8 and 9 to provide additional literacy support within the Discovery framework.
