Teacher of Mandarin Chinese

We are looking for a passionate Chinese teacher, to join our ‘Outstanding’ language college. The successful candidate will be able to deliver GCSE Chinese and year 7 taster classes. 

Standards are very high and extensive links exist with a range of international partners resulting in a rich and diverse learning environment for students and staff. The ethos of the school is supportive of language learning and internationalism in particular. As an indication of this, the Department for Education recently invited the school to become a ‘Languages Hub’ for secondary education. 

Our ideal candidate will have a positive, forward-thinking approach along with outstanding interpersonal skills. A good understanding of the role of technology to enhance learning is required would be helpful, as all staff and students have iPads.

The days of work are Tuesday and Thursday. 

Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College is a highly successful mixed comprehensive school of approximately 1600 students.    We are successful because standards, facilities and learning are excellent. Our GCSE results are consistently high, while students make excellent progress as shown by the very positive Progress 8 outcomes. Our ‘disadvantaged’ students perform well and we are very proud of the breadth of our curriculum offer; all students follow a core curriculum that includes at least one modern language yet maintains options in Humanities, Creative Arts and Technology in addition to a range of subjects including industry led vocational qualifications, including an extensive range in the Sixth Form. The most recent Ofsted inspection judged the school to be ‘Outstanding’; this was also the judgement for Teaching. Inspectors noted that, “Much of the school’s success is due to a focus on improving teaching and monitoring students’ progress regularly”.
