South Hampstead High School is seeking to appoint a dynamic full-time or part-time teacher of Mandarin to join our vibrant languages department and play a key role in the further development of the School’s Mandarin provision.

We are looking for a highly motivated team player with vision, flair, a sense of humour and good ICT skills who will be keen to take the initiative in this crucial stage of Mandarin development at the school. 

You will teach Mandarin to highly motivated and curious pupils from Year 7 to 10 initially, with Year 11 to follow in 2020 – 2021, ensuring each girl is able to learn to the best of her ability.

The successful candidate is likely to be a qualified teacher, with a proven track record,, however applications would also be welcome from NQTs and those looking to begin a career in teaching.

Mandarin at South Hampstead High School

This is a very exciting stage of growth as we introduce GCSE Mandarin as part of the core curriculum in September 2019. We currently use the Dragons International Secondary Chinese textbooks, but any future provision will of course be developed by you.

Mandarin was first introduced as part of the core languages provision at the Senior School in September 2017 and there are now classes in Year 7 - 9. There is also provision for Mandarin in Year 5 & 6 in the Junior School.
