Headteacher: Mr J Constable
Part time teacher of Mandarin
1 hour per week, £32 per hour, 25 weeks of the year
Required for October 2019
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Teacher of Mandarin to deliver an introductory course in the language to a small group of Year 10 students. We offer Mandarin as an optional enrichment course for students in Year 10. Students who sign up do so voluntarily and have a keen interest in learning. The lessons will take place between approximately 3.30pm to 4.30pm once a week for 25 weeks through the academic year beginning in October 2019. There is flexibility over the day of the week. This is fixed term position of a year in the first instance and the successful candidate will be required to invoice the school for payment.
Although we do not require applicants to hold Qualified Teacher Status for this role (QTS) we are looking for applicants who have some relevant teaching experience, a secure knowledge of the subject and a commitment to delivering an engaging and high-quality programme that will enable students to develop their knowledge and skills in Mandarin. Students follow a course leading to the AQA FCSE in Mandarin (Short course). There is no final examination, but the course does involve continuous assessment of short listening and speaking tasks provided by the examination board. The course book Jin Bu is used.
