Job overview

Imperial College London Mathematics School (ICLMS) will open in September 2023. The school will provide a diverse range of young people with access to a unique educational experience. The school will be located adjacent to Woodhouse College and will be part of the Frontier Learning Trust alongside the College. The school will offer A levels in mathematics, further mathematics, physics and chemistry along with additional A level options from the Woodhouse College curriculum.

We are seeking to appoint a teacher of mathematics at Imperial College London Mathematics School. This is a part-time and permanent post. The school will open to around 40 students in September 2023 and will deliver a highly specialised A level STEM-based curriculum to enthusiastic students from north London and the wider region. The School aims to attract high achieving students from groups who do not normally progress to the most competitive university STEM courses.

Τhis teacher will teach A level mathematics and further mathematics, initially in conjunction with the headteacher and deputy headteacher. Consequently, we are looking for someone who combines two important qualities: the expertise required to be an excellent A level teacher of mathematics and further mathematics, and an enthusiasm for the broader challenge of contributing to building a school from its inception based around a clear social mission. This will involve commitment to the broader aspects of ICLMS’s offer, including contributions to the super-curriculum, extending students beyond their A levels, and the Outreach work of the school.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to contribute to building an exceptional school. In line with the ethos and purpose of the school, we welcome applications from teachers from groups who are currently underrepresented in STEM industries and university courses.

Salaries will be on the sixth form college teachers main-scale between Point 3 and Point 9: £29,367 and £42,149, depending on experience, plus London Weighting £2,756 per annum. Actual part-time (0.5) salary would be between £16,062 and £22,453 inclusive per annum.

Please visit the Imperial College London Mathematics School (iclms.ac.uk) for more details and to apply.

Closing date for applications is Monday 20 February 2023 at NOON.

The Trust is committed to equality and diversity. We encourage applications from black and minority ethnic groups which are currently underrepresented. The College is committed to safeguarding and the promotion of the welfare of children and young people.
