Mathematics is a thriving and popular subject within the school.  The Department consists of eight teachers who form a committed, enthusiastic and supportive team. The Mathematics teaching rooms are equipped with interactive white boards, and are near to two computer suites.  Autograph, Excel, Mathtype, Smartboard Maths Tools and Calculator emulator software are available, as well as graphic calculators, and the department also subscribes to online maths resources.

The teaching of Mathematics aims to develop confidence in and enjoyment of the subject and to provide the students with an enriching experience that will encourage their learning up to GCSE, Advanced level and beyond.

Our Edexcel IGCSE results are excellent with 86% of the students achieving A* or A grades in summer 2017.  In the Sixth Form there are four groups in each of Lower and Senior 6th, including a Further Mathematics group.  Approximately one-third of the sixth form choose Mathematics at A Level.  In summer 2017, 44% of our A level Mathematics students gained A* or A grades.  Each year students go on to read Mathematics and related subjects at university, including Oxbridge.

There is a wealth of co-curricular Mathematics on offer, including Maths Club, competitive puzzles, the National Mathematical Challenge at Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels as well as other local competitions and further involvement in the Olympiads for the best mathematicians.  The Sixth Form students also attend external lectures by leading mathematicians.
